In a probate real estate sale in California, the state, through Probate Court, regulates certain aspects.  These include how it is sold, how it is priced, and how quickly it must be sold. There are legal timelines that must be met, and court orders that must be followed. A probate sale can take up to 12 months to complete, depending on the authority granted by the court .
